Meet Dr. David T. Harvey
Dr. David T. Harvey, a triple board-certified physician, specializes in dermatology and Mohs micrographic surgery. After earning his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis, he completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, followed by a dermatology residency at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He further enhanced his expertise with an ACGME accredited fellowship in Procedural Dermatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, which propelled him into a distinguished surgical career that has significantly impacted thousands of patients and inspired many colleagues.
With respect to the house of medicine, Dr. Harvey has held prominent leadership positions. He served as the past president of the Georgia Society of Dermatology & Dermatologic Surgery, the Florida Academy of Dermatology, and the Florida Society of Dermatology Surgeons. Currently, he serves as assistant clinical professor at the Emory School of Medicine’s Department of Dermatology and has authored 40 peer-reviewed publications relevant to skin cancer treatment, eyelid reconstruction, anesthesia in dermatology, and surgical instrument development. His unwavering commitment to excellence has been recognized with numerous honors, including a Presidential Citation Award in Mohs Surgery from the American Academy of Dermatology, the Inaugural Alumnus Impact Award from the University of South Florida Department of Dermatology, the prestigious Castle Connolly Award for Excellence, and repeated recognition as a top doctor in the metro Atlanta, Georgia region.
In 2025, Dr. Harvey started The DermElevate Scholarship Initiative, a nonprofit organization committed to supporting students from underserved areas in their pursuit of healthcare-related degrees and to help them fulfill their academic aspirations. He currently lives in the Atlanta metropolitan area with his wife of 25 years and has two children. He enjoys running, golf and traveling as much as possible. He also hosts a podcast, The Derm Cafe,which features expert physicians from around the country that speak on recognized skin disorders and their treatments.
